Windows 10 Setting applicaion

Hi All,

I am testing Windows 10 to use as our main image at work , however before I can release it to the students and staff for testing I need to be able to hide the settings application shortcut from the start menu and the all programs area.

These shortcut do not appear in the normal Program Data folder where other start menu folders appear.

Please could someone help me , either a group policy object or a registry edit ?

Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Have you downloaded the windows 10 ADMX files?

You probably can't hide it (unless you move away from the new Start Menu completely and use something like Classic Shell - which has GPO-deployable settings), but there is a GPO setting to completely disable all access to Control Panel and the Settings app (i.e. it will not run). The only problem with that would be if you do need some users to be able to access some Control Panel settings, such as Mail, Ease of Access etc.

 

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Prohibit access to Control Panel and PC Settings
