Assistance required in creating a quality eBay template

I have a little sideline where I create and sell a product on eBay. I have purchased a cheap template and currently use it to sell product (see link below)

 

SALICYLIC ACID BHA SKIN PEEL 30ml - Treating acne blackheads blemishes & spots | eBay

 

It's pretty basic and doesn't allow too much modification, but does the job to a point.

 

I'd like to make my listings more like this (see link below) but have little idea of how to go about it. Any ideas or suggestions of websites/services/books etc would be very much appreciated.

That's a pretty good template. Looks professional. Isn't ridiculously flashy. Gets the job done.

No you wouldn't. That is gaudy, in-your-face, begging and I personally can't stand auctions like that. OMG DON'T WAIT. BUY NOW. OMG. BUUUYYYY. DOO ITTT. It's just so tacky. It immediately gives me the impression the supplier is immature and if I have an issue with my product it'll take a long while to resolve. If you want to change your appearance, you could probably make the images a little more fitting, but personally? Based solely on layout? I'd buy from you, not then.

I've made a few templates for businesses before, I infinitely prefer the first one (apart from the few broken images).

 

If you really want to go for the second one, it's just a selection of images with different hyperlinks attached - probably set up using TurboLister or something similar. Quite easy with Photoshop probably.

Many thanks for your feedback, it is very much appreciated. I guess I have wrongly assumed that my template is the main reason I'm selling way less than competitors like the example in the second link.

Agree RE 1st template being better, the second one smacks of those ridiculous late night shopping channel ads. One thing that'd make it much more appealing to me as a regular eBay user would be an actual photo of the product. I tend to avoid listings that can't provide a photo of what they're selling - screams scam to me (not saying yours is a scam, just the impression as I'm browsing day to day)

It's a valid point. I hadn't given it much thought but actually, I have to agree.

 

Forgive me, I was also taking your request quite literally and focussing on the layout mostly. You could probably do with a few images or a bit more colour to spice it up. But in terms of the actual layout and not the content, it's actually very professional.

I agree with the product photos, you need real images of the front and back. Also, it's being rendered differently in Chrome and IE for me.
