Liam Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I have recently removed system manager from a a sims user but his user still has access to system manager. In groups it's says system manager historical. This user isn't a member of any other groups that would contribute towards this. Any suggestions? Is there some set of good practise rules to follow when Doing this? Thanks
vikpaw Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Are you looking at system manager 7, i.e. Focus | system manager | then either Manage Users or Manager Groups? Under users, you can confirm it's the right user by checking their username and then under permissions view all permissions - this is the resultant set, so you should be able to see if they are receiving this permission from somewhere. Sometimes it helps to remove and then re-add an existing permission to force a refresh of all permissions on a user - at least it used to help a long time ago. If they are a member of any group which is a Custom group then it could have inherited sysman permissions or have had them added. Although it's scary, the simplest way to test a particular user would be to remove all their permissions and add them back one at a time. You can change their password temporarily while you test. Or as less scary alternative, use another user, or create a test user and clone the permissions of this person to the test user, and then you can play around with them. Generally speaking you only grant permissions as they are required. Remove them as you have done and it will set the end date to the date you do it. You may want to keep a log of permissions granted and revoked for your own records, or more detailed info on what type of user has which roles. There's nothing really complex in removing a permission.
