[sims] Clients unable to Connect with SQL Error

Evening,

 

We have an urgent issue that Id really appreciate help with..

 

The fault code when trying to login locally via SIMS.net (program) is 2115-3933-2400

 

It says An Application Fault Has Occurred

The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object ‘db_pic_signature_drop’,database ‘sims, schema ‘sims’, :System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException

 

SIMS works fine on the main SIMS Server but clients unable to connect..

 

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Have you tried temporarily disabling the firewall on server and clients? Does it not work on all clients or are there some working? If you have some working, it may help narrow down issue.

Also, i know sql does need some settings for remote connections to be allowed. Worth a double check http://blog.citrix24.com/configure-sql-express-to-accept-remote-connections/

Have you enabled remote connections to SQL? This area of SQL is visited so infrequently, it's often overlooked.

This is the SQL Config ini file that contains the settings that Capita use to install SQL Express. Our instance name was SIMS2012 and the server name is mis-db-001. You could adapt this to install the full version of SQL when migrating or upgrading your instance.

Turn on the SQL Server Browser in Services.msc. That might fix the issue.

Check the version of pulsar.exe on the server and the client - should be in c:\program files (x86)\sims\sims .net. I would guess the server is on a higher version then the client. If it's a new server, I would guess your using SOLUS2 and the setups directory is still pointing to the old server.

I don't know much about SIMS these days, but this is a SQL error - meaning that the application has successfully logged in to the SQL Server. The account SIMS is logged in with is trying to execute one of the stored procedures, but does not have enough privilege.
