Dos_Box Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 I've just been getting an old Core 2 laptop ready for Windows 10. I flattened it yesterday and put on a fresh install of W7 but it steadfastly refuses to update and was stuck on 'Checking for updates'. So this morning I wiped it again and put on a differnt build (inc SP1) as yesterdays may have become borked after the manual SP1 update. Again, it's stuck. I'm also seeing a few posts over various forums saying similar things recently. I wonder if this could be anythign to do with Microsoft devoting resopurces to the Win 10 roll out? Anyhow, if you too are having problems with W7 updating direct from the net please let me know that I'm not the only one! My Win 10 desktop here in the office updates fine btw! *And yes, I've tried every patch and fix that I could find to resolve the problem!
southhamster Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Reinstalled my HP laptop yesterday with W7 and downloaded around a gig of updates fine. Been careful to check that I'm not installing the W10 update patch as I'm happy to let others do the beta testing first....

I'll take it home tonight and see if it's just not an issue with the internet here. Edited August 14, 2015 by Dos_Box
difinity Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 I reinstalled a Dell with Windows 7 SP1 and did all the updates a couple of days ago and had no issues and have done some updates on a Packard Bell AIO today without issue.
