pcstru Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 There are several things on EdX homepage that may be of interest to people here. Might be especially relevant here : Innovation in IT management I'm sorely tempted by this : Creative Problem Solving and Decision Making. I'd quite like to run some workshops here on Blender and 3d stuff so Computer Graphics caught my eye. And Electronics and Interfacing, prompted some recollection (probably wrong) that @LosOjos did this? This stuff does look good on a CV - even if you list something irrelevant to a job, doing EdX courses says things about you that employers like. They are easily 'bagged'. And if you ever want to spend hours watching videos and reading stuff that will almost certainly inform and educate, view the archived Think 101x course - it is just amazing. 3
LosOjos Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 There are several things on And Electronics and Interfacing, prompted some recollection (probably wrong) that @LosOjos did this? Quite right, I did sign up. Unfortunately, my actual degree got in the way of me completing it! I was going to sign up for the next run, but have been without proper internet for a month now (bloody BT!) so haven't. Hopefully they'll run it again, it was a really interesting course and although I'd already tinkered with most of the electronics covered in the course, the bits I did gave me a much better understanding of the components rather than me just using them parrot fashion as I had been doing up until that point. Highly recommend edX, the courses I've seen have been excellent quality, and they're mostly free!
pcstru Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 EdX are once again running Think 101, The Science of Everyday Thinking. It is a 12 week course which takes up only a couple of hours a week. It is extremely well done, the video content is highly polished and all the content is easy to digest (the tests are tricky - not difficult but they do require you to think carefully) - it's a course that I found extremely fun to do where some can become hard work. I can't recommend this highly enough. Do it!
pcstru Posted June 7, 2016 Author Posted June 7, 2016 Introduction to Project Management, a short course (~20 hours over 6 weeks) which might be informative and look good on a CV.
