njr72 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 HI About a year ago, our LEA told us to stop using SurveyMonkey, as the Data was not held in the EU. This was incorrect, but correctly, IF data is outside of the EU, then is it not good. We have now been told that we have to use MAILEXPRESS for sending secure emails. BUT, I've checked with MailExpress and the data is hosted in the USA. So, I don't really why we should use this. Does anyone else have concerns with MailExpress ? Thanks
matt40k Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Looks like the LA in question has a on-prem solution, going by what the IP resolves to. I'd assume they have it pen tested, the only odd thing is that it doesn't appear to be purchased off the government marketplace, which is odd, I mean, if you have to meet gov security regs, surely you'd pick from the list of already approved suppliers. Still, without knowing the intermit details its hard to really tell, but in terms of security, if it was insecure, they wouldn't have a gov connection, which I can imagine wouldn't make running a LA very easy.
njr72 Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 Thanks for both the replies. YES, I have mentioned my concerns to my LEA - but they aren't interested. I just get told to "email in", which I do & are then ignored. When I call I can't get through to anyone who knows anything ! Matt40K - thanks for the research !
GREED Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Then do not use MailExpress if the LA kick up a fuss then say you have concerns and was not prepared to risk x y and z... and you did flag this with them on x date...
