RUCKUS - redirect to the following URL not working with hotspot services

Hi guys

 

Following the SSL Google switchover we have made a simple splash page with the certificate linked to it and a small set of instructions. This works fine for the Guest Access Service but does not work with the hotspot service we use for our students, it just pings them to the site they requested once they authenticate via the ruckus auth form. Tres frustrating.

 

Anybody else come across this?

We have the exact same problem.

 

Following the Google SSL switch over we created a hotspot service which authenticates with AD and uses RADIUS accounting for our Smoothwall UTM. Everything is working fine except the redirection to our SSL cert. As you correctly pointed out, the built in Ruckus pages just redirect the user to the page they requested.

 

I'm sorry I have no answers for you but you're not alone!

The redirection page is https://ruckusip/user/user_redirect.jsp but I cant get in to Ruckus to 'hard code' it. I have seen a few posts which say to use a custom webpage which forwards user credentials to Ruckus via a POST form, but I'm not keen on this.

Ok, so we have had a bit of eureka moment which, when you look at it is really simple. It was staring us in the face the whole time.

 

Leave all the settings as they are... except one. In Ruckus edit you Hotspot Service to redirect unauthenticated users to a custom webpage. This webpage will have instructions on how to install the Gaurdian CA Cert and give users a download button. (the crt will need to be hosted on an https site, we're going to use our schools webpage). We then give them a login button which redirects them to https://zonedirector/user/user_login_auth.jsp for authentication.

 

You just need some html knowledge to create the webpage but I can help you out with some code if needed.

@markwilfan iVe got a support request open with Ruckus about the original question. They cannot understand why http://null is shown on android and windows devices and on iOS devices a message appears gving Hotspot login cannot open the page because the server cannot be found.

 

Will update if they find anything out.
