Router of DNS issue

Hi,

 

I'm a bit at a loss with this one. I'm not sure if it's an issue with my DHCP/DNS setup or whether the router is configured incorrectly. We recently hit our 10.xxx.56.xxx DHCP limit with subnet mask 255.255.248.0. I checked and we're ok to use up 10.xxx.63.xxx so i extended it up by one to dish out 10.xxx.57.xxx

 

Anything on the 57 range can't access the internet (or ping the router) but can access and ping server.

 

Any ideas?

Have you checked NAT on your router, it's possible NAT on your router has been set up to translate only the 10.xxx.56.xxx subnet and might need to be extended to the 57 range

 

Another issue could be your IP routes has not be configure to accommodate the 57 extension and also your other clients still have the old subnet mask in their IP configuration

 

Your firewall wall or accesslist could also be an issue.

Your firewall may only be allowing traffic out from 10.xxx.56.xxx; you may need to tweak it to allow the full range of subnet traffic. When we VLANned, and moved everything sideways by one subnet (10.xxx.176.0/20 to 10.xxx.192.0/20) I had to get the firewall rule tweaked to allow traffic from the broader address segment.
