Techdw Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 A mail box got deleted a while back, I can't seem to find it to restore it. Can I set a new mail box up with the same email address from scratch? This user has been with the school for years so I can't give him another email address. Thanks
sukh Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 If not available to recover then you can give same smtp as before.
yaak Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Yes, you can create a new mailbox and assign the same smtp address as the old one. Some of your other users might still get a "recipient not found" NDR when replying to old messages sent by this person because Outlook doesn't use the smtp address of internal Exchange recipients (no matter what you type into the To field). Behind the scenes it's actually using the LegacyExchangeDN, which will appear in approximate form in the NDR. You'll need to add this value to the mailbox as an additional X500-type email address. You'll probably have to convert some of the characters to the correct format. For example, the NDR might show this: _O=EMPLOYEES_OU=EXCHANGE+20ADMINISTRATIVE+20GROUP+20+28FYDIBOHF23SPDLT+29_CN=RECIPIENTS_CN=UserNamef62@domain.com You'll need to add an X500 address like this: /O=EMPLOYEES/OU=EXCHANGE ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/CN=RECIPIENTS/[email protected] See this MS support page for more info: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2807779?wa=wsignin1.0
