jvanhoos Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 We have a file server 2008 R2 that we are using folder redirection for users desktop's and documents. We recently started mass upgrading user PC's to Win7 and noticed that for several users there user profile names have changed from their username to "Start Menu" but if you click on the folder then the address bar it shows the proper name in the bar. How do we correct this issue? I have been searching on this but not sure how to word the search for this issue.
Jamo Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 There will be a hidden .ini file inside the folder which tells Windows what to display as its name in explorer. Make sure you enable show all files to see it though. The actual folders will be named correctly, I'm guessing you have redirected all the folders to the same place?
jvanhoos Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 (edited) We have the desktop redirected to userprofile\desktop then the documents to userprofile\ my documents\ this is the only things we are redirecting. Also this is not happening to all profiles about 1/4 of them. Edited June 10, 2015 by jvanhoos
jvanhoos Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 I took a look at some that was not changed and in the parent folder of their profile there was not a desktop.ini but when I checked the ones that did change they had one so I changed the name of the ones to desktop_old.ini and the folders changed back to the proper name. Thank You!
