To get something around that speed from overclockers its almost £2000 just for the SSD this seems a bargain! Think i might have to have a trip to the Apple Store over half term and play with the display model to see how this speed transfers to noticeable usage.

A 400GB Intel 750 PCIe NVMe SSD is only £308.

Overclockers must be getting poo with their selection its who i always look at living 2 min drive from them. Still think its a bargain laptop with that spec in.

That's an enterprise-class SSD so it's going to be expensive. You're definitely not comparing like with like.

Apple's old MacBook under performs quite a lot. It's a PCI-E SSD and yet it can only reach on my machine 500mb/s and around 300mb/s write which is around the same as a SATA SSD (I have the MacBook Pro Retina 15" with 750GT GPU). Many PCI-E SSD's are around the 2000 mark. Maybe it was another marketing scheme so they could say that they had doubled the speed when in actual fact all they've done was used a slow version to start with and now have moved up to the standard speeds that everyone's been using anyway?

I dont notice my Macbook Pro being especially slow as it is here, I bought a 15" in the last 3 months and its quick anyway, it feels and boots from cold quicker than my windows machine on most things, despite that having an SSD and large amounts of RAM.

 

Not sold on the Force Touch though as I have yet to play with one, makes me want to go play now
