We've recently moved Exchange to a new server and it's been working fine for the past week except the fact that OWA in slow to do anything.

The server spec is: 2x Quad-Core Xeon 2GHZ, 4GB RAM, 4x 300GB SAS drives. OS is Server 2003 Std R2 with SP2, Exchange 2003 SP2.

The old server was a DC (it's still part of the organistion and AD) but it's not online and quite a bit lower in spec.

I'm using the /3GB in the boot.ini

Any suggestions as to what is causing the slowness?

I haven't removed the DC yet (I read something on msexchange.org about leaving it offline to iron out any problems). We have 2 GCs already.

I'm wondering if the old servers presence as a DC (all be it offline) is casuing some sort of problem.

Domain controller + Exchange on the same server is a definite no no, very bad idea!

That is probably the cause of your problems.

Just out of interest have you tried shutting it down yet? Might take a while :)

EDIT: just read your post again maybe I mis-understood. Have you looked at the global catalogue server, is exchange pointing towards it? Also maybe look at the authentication in IIS on the exchange server, try anonymous plain text authentication.
