LosOjos Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I've not picked up my camera in almost a year now. I put it largely down to being tired of my surroundings and not having much opportunity to get out to new places, so I figured one way to get over the lack of new locations to shoot would be to create my own. I've always loved Photoshop and I'm pretty handy with it (IMO anyway!) so I'm going to challenge myself this year to produce some surreal photography. Anybody taken/seen any really cool surreal shots? Share them here and let's get a little thread of the weird and wonderful going I'll start (not my shot): Surreal by Abrahamciño, on Flickr
sonofsanta Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Not taken any - my Photoshop blending isn't good enough, I haven't the patience for it - but I was rather taken with the photos in this article: These Photos Are More Terrifying Than Most Horror Movies On a related note, I started playing Mind: Path to Thalamus on my PC last night, and while the story & voice acting are so horrendous that I immediately muted it and put some Eluvium on in the background instead, I've never seen a game so beautiful and surreal. I came out of an hour and a half's play with over 30 screenshots:
LosOjos Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Those are some truly freaky shots! Can't see all the screenshots right now (Steam is blocked here for obvious reasons) but that one you attached is stunning, will have to look in to that game. Dear Esther is a stunning looking game too, I haven't played it so can't comment on whether it's a good game but I saw the missus playing it once or twice and was stunned by the visuals.

I adore Dear Esther, and until last night it had been the previous holder of my personal Bestest Looking Game Ever Award. It really is a walking simulator: that term's become a bit derogatory of late, but you don't do anything in DE except walk about. But the environment and the atmosphere are so utterly gorgeous that it's captivating regardless. I might go make a Game Photography thread, actually, I can't be the only one who gets sidetracked by climbing and crouching and nudging along edges to get the perfect screenshot composition. I've died more than once falling off a ledge I was only on for a screenshot...

Can't quite believe it, but there's an entire series of split-family photos this guy did in 2011: Split Family Faces - My Modern Met Today is the first time I've seen them, yet last year I made this: I'd forgive anyone for thinking I stole the idea, but I genuinely thought I was being original!
