I've noticed a number of part-taken registers over the last few months and I have no idea how it can happen. When you take a register in Lesson Monitor, it automatically inputs N for any blank marks, so how can I find lots of registers with three or four students missing marks?

Assuming we rule out a random mark inputter using the edit marks, year view.

Speak to the person responsible for your timetable changes. I am thinking they are making changes to class sets during the day or even if after last lesson of the day and your attendance officer has not had chance to check on registers.

Used to happen here a lot until we found out our timetabler was tweaking as and when she wanted!
