gazlee Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Hi everyone, I just want to get a quick feel for the sort of hardware that people are running Sophos UTM 9 on (if you are running it, that is). The reason I ask is because we have a pair of SG450 appliances and they don't seem too reliable, software corrupting, databases hanging up stopping and web filtering etc, which isn't great considering they're less than a year old. So, I'd be grateful to know whether anyones running the official SG series appliances, a virtual appliance or bare-metal install on a proper server, and whether or not you have any of these types of issues. Thanks in advance, Gary
jnimmo Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Interesting; I'm just considering whether to purchase a SG-135 at the moment. Unfortunately very difficult to derive much from their user forums about if people like them or not because most people are just going on about the virtual edition or free version in the forums
Baerf Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 (edited) Hi, We currently run a Sophos UTM-9 but on it's own hardware (as in it's on the hardware appliance supplied by Sophos). It's been completely stable and a joy to use being completely open. The IPS does hit the CPU, and we have an issue with this at the moment which has been reported to Sophos who confirm it's an issue and are working on a fix. But in terms of stability, reliabilty and so forth i couldn't be more happier with it. B Edited November 27, 2014 by Baerf 1
colly72 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 We're running v9 on a SG330 hardware appliance. It's only been in just over a month and in terms of functionality, it's great. It does pretty much everything we need. We have had some issues with stability though, it's randomly rebooted a few times without warning (twice just today) - Sophos are looking into this. 1
