mbrunt Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Hi all, I've been given the task of getting our corporate image onto one of these tablet computers. I've no idea how to go about this. We use WDS with MDT for our main desktops but no idea how to go about this. I've tried burning our MDT iso to CD but the tablet won't pick that up, and I've also got a USB network card but that also won't boot. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
denmyos Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 If your asking the very basic about MDT/WDS this guy's video help me alot. https://www.youtube.com/user/alucardkakashi/search?query=mdt But I'm just a beginner, I'm sure that a lot of other people in here can help much more that I can.
ITGuyWestMidlands Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Check the bios version. More recent versions support Windows PE. I've just finished imaging 30 of these via sccm standalone offline media using a thin image off a 8gb usb stick. The key is to ensure the usb stick is FAT32
free780 Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 You need to make sure your TS supports uefi . Boot the correct architecture for the is you are deploying.
SYNACK Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 These tablets are junk for imaging, the Acer Switch are way better but anyhow this problem has be tackeled. Never managed PXE from them but with a compatible USB NIC and the base image they can be reimaged. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/o-s-deployment/140216-deployment-winter-comming-game-tablets-64-32-a.html Imaging The Atom and other Mysteries - Blogs - EduGeek.net
mbrunt Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 I'm still struggling with these. The USB network card doesn't support PXE and I can't find any other way of imaging these. I'm now not even bothered if these accept our corporate image, just some way of cloning them. Any help would be appreciated. These are annoying me now!
SYNACK Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 You need to do it live, boot into the existing os with network support and either transfer and apply the image manually or use something like mdt with the above tweaks to image that way. It's not ideal but it does get the job done.
mbrunt Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 So how do I go about doing that then, what do I run from the MDT scripts folder?
sted Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 So how do I go about doing that then, what do I run from the MDT scripts folder? now i havnt tried this on these devices but assuming its the same as a standard pc yes you go to \\server\deploymentshare\scripts and run litelouch.vbs. I copped out upgrading these to enterprise i just got them into windows and used a usb pen drive but i only did about a dozen the 3 times ive done it so dull but not too bad
