Driver issues

Hi everyone,

 

I am doing a job on a laptop, and have run out of ideas for one of the issues.

 

Trying to install a HP printer, the installation disc runs and the printer lists in Devices & Printers, however when I try and print, it says no driver is installed?

 

I then attempted to install the driver manually and it was throwing an error message to do with permissions (0x00000057). I changed folder permissions of Filerepository in Driverstore and this error passed.

 

Now when I try and install the printer manually, it says the driver is missing/corrupt.

 

I have removed from registry and tried reinstalling but still no good.

 

Tested on my laptop and installed fine, so definitely a laptop problem.

 

Anyone who has experienced this or have any ideas, I would gratefully receive your comments.

Have you tried stopping the spooler service delete all thats in the spooler folder and uninstall anything else to do with the printer and then download the correct drivers from the web site and install them when you install them if you are using windows 7 or windows 8 make sure you use the run as administrator feature

Hi,

 

I have tried the above but to no avail. The printer is listed, and when I go into the registry it shows the location of the driver in Driverstore, and all appears to be there.

 

However if I go into the properties of the printer it says no driver is installed, and when I then go to add the driver it says some files are damaged/missing etc.

Have your tried installing on another PC/Laptop to see if you get the same error?

Thanks for replying. I tried on my laptop and it worked fine, contacted HP to see if they could shed any light but nothing.

 

For some reason the OS was not accepting the driver, resorted to a system restore and this resolved the problem.

 

One of those weird things!
