Koldov Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Hi All, I'm not really up to speed with the Interwebz... But we are having trouble with a school website - as we are unable to contact the host provider to see if they are having issues, I'm just double checking it's nothing our end (DNS server etc.) and I can't get home to check the site from the wild... Does any of this error page point to anything specific to the schools DNS server, or PROXY being the problem? Kol.
tmcd35 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Well, the error reads like it's DNS, unable to resolve host name. What DNS server is the proxy pointing to? If you PM me the URL I can test it from here and see if it's local to you or an host problem. 1
jinnantonnixx Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 (edited) Check your DNS on your Squid server. Try an nslookup or dig from your Linux server to that address, see what the result is. Also check your /etc/squid.conf file, see if there's a line specifying DNS. The line will look like dns_nameservers <> This will cause Squid to ignore system DNS and use the resolvers specified here. Watch out for that. Edited October 1, 2014 by jinnantonnixx 1
IrritableTech Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Down For Everyone Or Just Me -> Check if your website is down or up? useful in this situation. 1
tmcd35 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 It is down for everyone. @Koldov PM'd me the URL and we've found what the issue is. Hopefully he'll be able to sort it. 1
