gwendes Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I will be moving shortly and one of the things that I never got round to sorting out at my old house was a decent audio setup... just after suggestions to do all of the following: #Play at least mp3 up to 320kbps (ideally play FLAC as this is most of my live recordings) #Have a remote control #Have a 'shuffle' play #Stream from one or more locations on more than one network locations #Have a screen (as large as possible - NOT TV) #Connect to an encrypted wireless network. I already run a couple of XBMCs for TV and films but just want a simple, neat box to sit on top of my amp and receive my music. I've been looking at all sorts of projects - hackaday has one that's just a mini-ITX PC and that's a bit overkill I think... A couple of 'it-would-be-nice-if' features #connect two media streamers together to sync music around the house #internet radio stations #cheap () Any suggestions appr. I've been looking for a little while now and nothing seems elegant enough - If I was a consumer electronics company...
dhicks Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Get someone in America to post you a Chumby (see http://www.chumby.com/). And get me one too, while you're at it :-) -- David Hicks
gwendes Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 Might be able to do that actually - my aunt lives perm in California...
gwendes Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 No speaker output that I can see - very pretty little box - bit like a TomTom
SpuffMonkey Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Sounds like you're after a Squeezebox - http://www.slimdevices.com/pi_overview.html but they are a bit pricey.
gwendes Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 Gonna invest in a NSLU2 to save my electricity bill from crippling my account with the new mortgage! Must be able to play from NAS - don't worry about computer
