Smartboard SB680 not recognized Windows7/Toshiba

I've just released a set of new Toshiba Satellite Windows 7 (x64) laptops for teachers at a school that I work with. Four of the five classrooms have SB680 model Smartboards, and one has an SB660 model board.

 

With these new Toshiba laptops, connecting it to the SB660 board needed an update to the latest product drivers, version 11.6 and now works perfectly. The SB680s on the other hand...

 

Three of the classrooms with SB680 boards in them were previously being used with old Windows XP laptops with no issues. Now moving these three on to brand new Windows 7 machines, even with the latest Notebook software and latest product drivers (11.6) none of the boards connect to any of these new Toshiba laptops. All have solid red lights, very occasionally a flashing green one indicating out of date drivers or software installed.

 

The wall plates consist of an audio cable, VGA cable and a single A to B USB cable used to connect the board to the PC.

 

In each of these cases where a user has tried to connect a new Windows 7 laptop to an SB680 board, results in a solid red light and a Windows message "Unrecognized USB device". This result occurs even with the latest 11.6 drivers, latest Notebook, and changed USB cables, and swapping USB ports on the laptops. Changing back to an older Windows XP laptop, or another brand Win7 machine results in a perfectly working interactive board, pens touch etc. One user even has an HP Windows 7 laptop, which works perfectly with their SB680 board but refuses to work at all with a new Toshiba laptop.

 

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, as I'm stumped.

How long is the usb cable?

Is the laptop a fresh built or dose it have all the blotware on it?

The laptops are all new builds, the laptops themselves are barely a week old. The USB cables are all around 1-3M long, but the boards all work with older laptops or Windows 7 laptops from other brands; using these same cables.

What do you see in smart board settings red X or yellow triangle? Can you run the set up wizard?

The smart board hardware settings has a red X and "run the connection wizard" message. Running the connection wizard fails to find the board, even with running through all the steps several times.

did you try a different USB port? I've seen that the board sometimes wont bee seen on a USB port and moved it to a different one and it see it then. Strange stuff but its Windows LOL
