TomHD Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed" I have deleted the computer from AD and both leases from DHCP. I then added the computer back to AD with a new name but no joy. It did however create a lease in DHCP. The computer is still showing in RMMC with the old name. Can someone elaborate on what I have or haven't done right. Many Thanks. Tom
bossman Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 @TomHD: When you say you have deleted the computer account from AD did you mean after you had deleted the computer in the RMMC? A little confusing?
TomHD Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 @TomHD: When you say you have deleted the computer account from AD did you mean after you had deleted the computer in the RMMC? A little confusing? I never deleted the computer in RMMC. My apologies but I am new to CC4 and struggling to use it efficiently. Thanks
bossman Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 @TomHD: There lies your problem! You only have to delete the computer account in the RMMC as it uses a Postgres database to store all the details and then passes that information on to AD, I would suggest you log a call with RM so that one of their engineers can sort out the Postgres database for you, I am sure they would have come across this before so should be able to sort. You should get some training on RMCC4 before you go altering anything as this can destroy the whole RMCC4 installation and things will not run as you expect them to, you can when you get used to the RMMC4 way of doing things then use it very functionally to do a myriad of things which will help you run the network effectively. 1
TomHD Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 Thank you bossman, any training courses or centres you might suggest? I will call RM on Monday.
SYNACK Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 This would have happened on a vanilla network two and broken the trust of the original, usually I kill the computer account in ad and rejoin both with different names. I'm sure it is similar in RM land. 1
foofighterjim Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I'm sure it is similar in RM land. Nope, it is not possible to rename a computer running CC4; it must be rebuilt. If you import a computer account directly into AD the RMMC will simply not acknowledge it. 1
bossman Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 @SYNACK: Its because the RMMC utilises Postgres DB rather than the AD using the Postgres DB, the RMMC stores the information in the Postgres which in turn is utilised by RM components on the Server and this transposes the information into AD. So if you edit the information in AD it will not alter the information in the Postgres DB so until this information is corrected in the Postgres DB it will keep failing. @TomHD: Please PM me for some helpful information 1
