DHCP failover

I've running dhcp with failover on two 2012 servers. One thing I can't seem to work out is who is classed as the 'master' server in the configuration.

 

The relationship shows server1-server2, but when you try and remove a scope from server1 it won't let you as it is in a failover relationship - but surely the 'master' would allo changes which are then replicated to the partner server?

 

I would just like to make which server is the master, and change it if necessary but I can't seem to find a way (gui or powershell) to do this. Apart from that its looking great, and really easy to set up.

You can choose either one to be the master, just choose 1! and stick with it. If you start for example updating DHCP reservations and forget to replicate it you can end up in trouble.

It is really a lot easier in R2 to manage the scopes

 

To delete a scope, you must break the relationship
