Ephelyon Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Afternoon all... I'm having a very serious issue with SIMS if anyone knows what could be up with it. We've previously had the AM attendance session mapped to morning registration and the PM session mapped to Period 4. We've now changed the school day and need AM to map to Period 1 and PM to map to Period 5. There's a Form Time period after Period 5 but it's not used for registration. We're having to do it the "Tools > Setups > Attendance Setup > Registration Organisation" way because that's how PARS integrates with it. We don't have Lesson Monitor. Mapping the PM session to Period 5 is working fine... but the AM session will not map to Period 1! Nothing happens when I press the Map Forward button; it doesn't populate down the list. I've even tried setting every single one manually and saving, but when it re-opens the mapping isn't there and PARS doesn't show it as mapped either. I really can't work out what could be causing the one to work but not the other! County Support don't know either. All I do know is, if it's not in place and working for Tuesday morning, a Great Doom will settle over us as we won't have any AM attendance data until it's fixed... :/
TheScarfedOne Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Have you contacted your support unit/capita yet? Im sure I've seen this one before and although I cant remember where it needed changing - the support teams will
Ephelyon Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 I've asked County to contact Capita. We now have one day in which to have them do so and for Capita to respond with a solution (assuming it's as simple as "oh yes, this is what you do"). Which it won't be.
elsiegee40 Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 @vikpaw, @GREED Have either of you got a solution? 1
vikpaw Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 I haven't looked yet , is that the screen where you have to colour the blocks pink and yellow?
CAM Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 (edited) Not sure if this works for schools without Lesson Monitor but give it a check (SIMS menus can be strangely organised). Tools -> Setups -> Lesson Monitor -> Lesson Monitor Setup Check the periods are correctly mapped. Let us know if you have this routine without Lesson Monitor installed! I think you need to put A in Period 1 and tick Copy Marks from Classes. Edited September 1, 2014 by CAM 1
GREED Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 The chaps above are much more informed than I they will I am sue be able to help you out.
Ephelyon Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 Unfortunately we don't have those menus! This is the screen I mean. Pressing Map Forward doesn't do anything and even setting all the AM ones manually won't be saved once it's closed:
CAM Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 I've never seen that screen before so I don't know how it works. Sorry.
vikpaw Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Soz, don't need to use that either. We have the lesson monitor screen @CAM was referring to. I also can't see your screen as i haven't applied a timetable. Maybe you could try reapplying the timetable to make sure it's done properly and see if re-doing it makes any difference... Otherwise, maybe TASC will do a manual mapping for you, rather than reading it from SIMS to hard code it.... ? or will SIMS still need to be setup. I'm thinking they can take your register in p5 and write back to where you tell them to... i.e. PM session. It will be a much quicker response from them I didn't even realise you could use period registration if you didn't have Lesson Monitor. 1
Ephelyon Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 Right, this is now sorted, thanks to all for the help offered. And what did Capita say? Try running the mapping on the server instead of a workstation. It worked first time! But... I didn't have to do that last year, or with PM registration this year, and my workstation isn't the only one I've tried it on... wha?! 1
vikpaw Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 I guess it's quite taxing so maybe it was failing to save behind the scenes.
