I'm deploying the printers on my new domain using GPP on the computer object. I've created 2 GPOs, one for each site, and added all printers to the relevant site, using item level targeting to deploy to the correct machines. I also have an entry to delete the "send to OneNote" printer, as this confuses too many people.

All is working well, except for one printer. It is the same make and model as most of the others, is on the same print server, but fails to deploy. However, the delete printer part of the same GPO works. I've run gpupdate, no change. I can connect to the printer via a web page, and ping it, so the IP address is correct. The printer will install manually with no error.

What have I missed?

In the printer properties on the print server, 'list in directory' needs to be ticked in the sharing tab for GPP deployments. Worth a check.

Done - I can install it manually, by searching in the directory. I've compared it's settings to a working (ie deployable) printer in the GPO, the printer web interface and on the print server, and everything is identical except the IP address and name. It's the same GPO - how can bits of it be working?

I've removed and re-added that particular printer, I might create a GPP just for that one and test that.

Yea, I mean the whole policy unfortunately not just the printer setting.

It took ages - there's a lot of printers, and only one not mapping. I've created a GPO with just that printer, and removed the other one, and it didn't work, so I'm not sure recreating it completely will work.

Fixed it - it appears a colleague loaded different drivers for this particular printer than all other identical model printers. Not sure why, but changing to the same drivers allowed the printer to map.
