fiza Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Trying to run virtualbox on one of our teacher machines I get a sophos error. Does anyone know why or come across this before? I need to get it working to put onto our image for summer rollout. Anyone any ideas?
abillybob Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Isn't there a setting that can be disabled as certain software on VM's ttys to replicate itself on the VM, I'm guessing Sophos may want to do this to Virus Scan the VM as well....? I know this sounds mental but try uninstalling and re-installing Sophos it may have a missed file somewhere that's causing this issue. 1
fiza Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 Removed sophos and virtualbox worked. Reinstalled sophos and same message.
clareq Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 What version of virtualbox are you using? Apparently it's a known problem with a number of anti-virus produts: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=62615 1
fiza Posted July 21, 2014 Author Posted July 21, 2014 @clareq - Thanks for the link. That was exactly the problem. All the testing I had done was using an older version of Virtualbox. When it came to the image we thought it would be best to use the latest version of virtualbox - that is when it wouldn't run. Reverted back to the previous version and its all working again. Thanks
