Vostro 1510 Laptop keyboard problem

I have a strange problem with a laptop I'm attempting to repair. The keyboard when pressed produces not only the key pressed but the one next to it too or one within a key or two away i.e. if i press the f key I get fg if I press the h key I get hm some other keys also do strange things like the backspace does a + sign etc...

 

I have plugged in a USB keyboard and it works fine, I have replaced the laptop keyboard for a new one and I get the same problem. Just in case I got sent a faulty new keyboard I took one off of another working Vostro 1510 that I have and used that and got the same problem. I have updated the BIOS to the latest version to no avail...I'm guessing its a knackered motherboard or someone spilt liquid into it, but I thought I'd see if any of you had any other ideas before sending it to laptop heaven by way of the bin...

Check for dirt in the keyboard connector and try booting from a Linux live cd like Puppy.
