Fantastic Opportunity - IT Technician

Salary from £17k depending on skills, certification and experience

Due to an exciting period of IT expansion an additional technician is required to work as part of the IT team servicing the needs of Mount St Mary’s College and its junior school Barlborough Hall School. The two sites are 3 miles apart by road and are adjacent to J30 of the M1 motorway. Daily access to a motor vehicle is required for travel between the two sites for which a mileage allowance can be claimed.

Reporting to the Senior Technician and IT Manager the technician will become responsible for a number of the day to day operational systems that require regular maintenance, fault finding and reset or re-configuration.

Ideally candidates will have an HNC/D or BSc in computing and some Microsoft or Network certification in the server, network and desktop systems detailed below although consideration will be given to those that have directly relevant experience or have worked in a similar school setting.

Experience with Windows XP and Windows 7/8 platforms in a networked LAN/WLAN environment is essential together with ability to manage user accounts in Windows Active Directory 2003/2008/2012 and Exchange 2013. A familiarity with basic consumable replenishment and clearing paper jams on a varied fleet of printers and MFD devices operated through a PaperCut print management and reporting system would be useful. Experience with any of our key systems; iSAMS MIS, Sage Accounts, Edval, LiveRegister, Earnie Payroll would be a distinct advantage. In depth knowledge of Microsoft Office 2007-2013 is essential and knowledge of educational software titles such as Sanako Lab300, Eclipse.net, Sibelius, Cubass would be useful. You will be required to keep accurate electronic records and be capable of providing legible hand written work records. You must be able to articulate clearly both technical and non-technical aspects of IT to all levels of the schools communities from primary children to the schools executive. The school’s makes extensive use of Promethean and Smart electronic whiteboards and multimedia systems so any exposure to these would be an asset. The junior school is on the cusp of iPAD deployment so any Apple skills to help support this will be beneficial. This is a hands-on role requiring the ability to work systematically to trace faults and problems and report findings and possible solutions to line managers and once a solution is agreed to implement a correction to maintain service levels across the schools.
