Arthur Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 (edited) Were you thinking of installing the M6e in the PCIe slot or the M.2 slot? The mPCIe Combo II card on the Maximus VI Impact officially only supports M.2 Type 2242 (22 x 42mm) SSDs. The Plextor M6e is an M.2 Type 2280 (80 x 22.0mm) SSD when you remove the card from its PCIe adapter so it might hit the ASUS heatsink directly in front of the slot. The other issue with the Impact is that its M.2 slot is limited to PCIe x1 speeds so you wouldn't be able to take full advantage of the M6e's high sequential read/write speeds. Plextor's M6e compatibility list doesn't list the Maximus VI Impact either, so although the PCIe SSD might work fine, it would make me a little wary. I would either buy the Maximus VI Impact along with a standard SATA 6Gb/s SSD, the new Z97I-Plus motherboard (which should work with the M6e) or wait until the Maximus VII Impact is released.
