TechSupp Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Have a laptop I that's currently XP with Trucrypt and I want to install W7 and trucrypt, do I have to unencrypt it first then image or can I just image straight over the top. I'm going to be using clonezilla to image it if that makes any difference.
JackCPickup Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I've always just imaged over the top and then re-encrypted. Jack
plexer Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Image over the top as it's going to wipe the drive where all the encrypted info is held. Ben
theriver Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I believe that imaging an encrypted drive will give you a massive image file, as it can't tell what's empty space.
JackCPickup Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 That's if you're taking an image of the encrypted drive, imaging over the top takes no extra time. Jack
cooka Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Image over it - encrypted info will be deleted anyway. Don't pull an image from it though.
