mike86 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Hi all, Anyone any idea of the best way of migrating OSX Server & WGM settings from one mac to another, both Mountain Lion? I've had a browse through the web & it seems migration assistant is the way forward, however if anyone knows a better way, any problems I might come across etc i'd appreciate the info. Cheers.
Gerk Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Clone the whole OS install with SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner would be my best recommendation. Migration Assistant has a bad habit of not working as expected.
mike86 Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 Thanks for that, I take it that it doesn't matter if the hardware is different with macs? Will anything mess up with the AD integration?
Gerk Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 As long as the newer/older hardware can both run the same versions of Mountain Lion you should be fine on that front. For AD I think the answer is "it depends"... worst case you may have to re-bind the OSX server, I think it depends on how restrictive your AD setup is (i.e. if it's setup to only allow bind from specific hardware/MAC addresses).
mike86 Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 Cheers man, will give it a go over the next break in term & see how it goes. Thanks for your help.
