Hosting our website - 1&1

Hey Guys

 

Bit stuck with this one hoping some of you can help me. It's not urgent as I'm on holiday WOO! Although any help would be most appreciated. Now this may sound a bit noobish although I have never hosted a website before. We have a registered domain with 1&1 domains and the person who has created out website has told me to point the domain to #INSERT PUBLIC IP HERE# problem being is that when going to the public IP I can't see the website and I have no clue on how to redirect the domain we have registered to this IP Address can someone shed some light on this for me?

There may be multiple websites hosted on the same public IP address. Thus when going to the IP you don't receive the website because it doesn't know which one to serve.

 

You can test it by adding your domain to your hosts file with the public IP.

 

You should be able to set your domain to point to the public IP in your 1&1 control panel.
