Sir Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I have this block image pop up on many sites in school. I contest with the council and they insist it is not blocked with their filtering and all is fine. this is an example of what I am trying to access Quiz embed I have tried changing the global setting to every combination possible. Please do you have something to make this work for my students and teachers; they are all looking at me strangely now I really don't know what is going on here!
jb2201 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Its blocked with their filtering, do you have any filtering system installed on site or is it all done at their end? Looks like they have a Smoothie blocking the flash on the pages. 1
Sir Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 Hi. thanks for the quick reply! They do use Smoothwall. Is this a typical Smoothwall block image then? We have nothing onsite yet but I''m working on having it on-site in future instead as we have paid for a SW licence.
zag Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 This is smoothwall blocking a flash page. Just add it to the whitelist and it should work. 1
jb2201 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Yes, this is the result of Smoothwall blocking the Flash applet rather than the page itself, they should be able to check the logs of the logged in user and see the exact blocked URL (more often than not, the page itself isn't blocked, but the location where the Flash file is embedded from is). 1
Sir Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 Thanks for all these succint answers. You are all very helpful. thanks again.
Sir Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 Hi Galway, thanks for this. Interestingly, they installed a trial in school some six months ago and I see the client on many machines still. I did not have time to investigate further so did not continue with buying. Could the service still be running and interfering do you think? I say this because the council insist all is unblocked at their end.

I say this because the council insist all is unblocked at their end. If client trial ran out then won't block but doesn't look like our block screen and custom lock screens only been out in wild since jan time. If want to be sure disable Impero client service then will know for sure if Impero in anyway. Russ
jb2201 Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Is the councils proxy running transparently? If not you could try bypassing it and seeing if you can access the site, its definetly a Smoothwall issue though, they shouldn't be denying that, that is the block page for Smoothwall when it blocks a Flash applet. 1
Sir Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 Thanks all. Seems that council did not know the network we were using. Some previous nm here put a home router in and bridged 2 networks and subnetted into a 1.0/16 network! That would be a Thailand public network. Slowly stayed bringing it all back to a 10.... This is a big job. Cover me.... I'm going in. :-/
