RabbieBurns Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 My dev hyperv box went down taking exchange and a DC with it, it was over 2 months before I could get it back online (yay 10,000 miles away) The host is back up now, and the DCs seem to be replicating OK via ADSS however gpupdate is failing and Exchange wont start the transport service or information store. EMC and EMS show the DB as unable to mount. (both GPupdate and exchange services are showing a 'transient error' which makes me think of DNS but that seems to be OK) This is just a dev/testing setup so not a big deal; Ive got a backup of the exchange DB from the moment it went offline. Is this worth pursuing a fix for educational value, or should i just demote / repromote the DCs that were offline, and create a new exchange DB and restore the backup?
SYNACK Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 you could try messing with eseutil.exe if it still exists in later versions to get exchange kicking again
RabbieBurns Posted March 29, 2014 Author Posted March 29, 2014 After about a week of it not working, it just sprung to life all by itself
