At home, it's worse than at work.

 

I'd rather be resilvering a 5TB array full of photos of the SLT's children, then rebuild my own storage at home.

 

I use a Buffalo DriveStation Duo. Going from 2x 3TB in RAID1 to 2x 4TB. That jump in storage has taken me just under a year!

 

Normally I'd break the array, and stick one drive directly onto a SATA interface, build a new array with the new drives and copy the data back.

 

This time I've decided to let the hardware do it for me.

 

Degrade Disc 2, replace a 3TB with a 4TB let it rebuild. Degrade Disc 1, repeat. Increase partition size.
