Handwriting Fonts for Word Processors

Hi all,

 

We make (made) use of Nelson Thornes Handwriting Fonts for Mircosoft Word, but there is no version available for Windows 7 64 bit. Do you know of any alternatives? We have Sassoon Primary fonts, but specifically we're looking for a suite which will include all of the joined-up writing functionality of the Nelson Thornes software.

Also what does their word macro .dot file do other than help select the correct font? We have the TTF files from the CD. Got the installer to work on 32bit Win 7 with compatibility troubleshooter.

 

The add-in doesnt seem to make any difference other than make selecting fonts easier.

Their website is a bit unclear, but they basically sell a tool that appears as a toolbar in Word and allows teachers to produce joined-up handwriting worksheets. I've not used it myself yet, but from how the toolbar comes nicly packaged as a proper MSI file it looks like a well-written enough bit of software.

Just got off the phone with Oxford University Press Technical support. We have version 1.1 of Nelson Handwriting Font from yonks ago and they are sending me a link to an ISO of the latest version which supports 64bit windows and Office 2013 for FREE!! RESULT!!

 

Was told the software when working properly should do fully cursive (joined up) text as long as the macros/Add-ons are working fully.

 

EDIT: Just re checked my macro setting in trust center and I got the cursive to work on 32bit windows with Office 2010. Still going to install the newer version as all our PC's are 64bit.

 

So there is an add-on AND a macro which need to work.

Yes, we got that here this year, msi works fine. Not sure myself about the font, I find it difficult to read and some of the letters don't seem to join to others so its not fully joined writing. Wasn't my decision to get it and maybe reading its just me! Company was very helpful with any questions I had though.

Any one know how to set the add-in for JoinIT fonts to be there when a user starts Word rather than using the shortcut icon that the program installs? Tried all sorts of ways but only seem to get it to work when using their shortcut!

Hi @Alis_Klar - we currently have the same issue. I am hoping to get the same file which supports 64bit office. Could you please let me know what the installation file was called - I am hoping to get the samef file.
