laserblazer Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Whilst visiting us recently, my aging mother in law saw our Panasonic Freeview recorder and said she would like something similar. Can anyone recommend a recorder that would be easy to operate, so that she can record her "soaps". She's not afraid of technology, so an extra controller won't phase her (unlike her daughter). She would want to pay under £200. I appreciate there are lot of options available but I was hoping for a personal recommendation. Thanks in advance.
featured_spectre Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) Humax Freesat boxes are pretty decent. My brother has one in his place and he can't complain. Has a 1TB HDD (which he put in himself after he cloned the 500GB Standard), records nicely, good array of channels. will get the make and model later. They come with 500GB standard I think. laserblazer Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 We have a Humax Freesat box in Portugal (which is now pretty much redundant because the spot beam on the new Astra satellite doesn't reach the Algarve). It's Freeview we are looking for.
featured_spectre Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 the freesat kit will easily pick up freeview once it is set up. It works without issue and can pick up a lot of channels.
