LosOjos Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 The title pretty much says it all. I've found a few tutorials dotted around online but they all seem a bit vague and too specific to their example data sets. Background: our SEN department need to identify students out of borough, so the plan is to knock a SIMS report (Excel/VBA) together that will do a lookup on the OS Linked Data SPARQL API to find the borough for each post code. I know all the data is there because I can easily browse it via their website but as this needs to be run against over 300 post codes, I'd really like to pull this information via the aforementioned API
LosOjos Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 Well I'm still getting my head around SPARQL and RDF, but I did at least manage to work out the solution to my particular problem: PREFIX rdfs: PREFIX postcode: SELECT DISTINCT ?district ?name WHERE { ?postcode rdfs:label "MK3 6EB" ; postcode:district ?district . ?district rdfs:label ?name . } Found this to be a good jumping off point: Tech: A Crash Course in SPARQL All sorted now, still want to pursue SPARQL further though, could come in very handy in the future...
