Kineas Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) The bulb has been replaced on our Epson EB-X9 projector 4 months ago when the previous one blew, and it was worked fine up until now. Whenever it is turned on, the projector shows the computer screen fine for around 30 seconds. After this time has elapsed, the screen goes blank, the fan kicks in, and the lamp light starts flashing red. I've checked the bulb, which doesn't show any signs of damage, re-seated it, and the filter is clean. I would have thought if the problem was with the lamp, it wouldn't come on at all. I have contacted Epson who say despite the lamp actually working for a short amount of time, the fact that the lamp light is flashing indicates the lamp needs replacing. The lamp was purchased 4 months ago, which is outside of the 3 month consumables warranty. They then asked if I'd like to order a replacement with them for £140. I asked them would the replacement lamp fix it, and they replied with "Not necessarily". Lamps should last longer than 4 months. They want me to spend £140 on a lamp that may not fix the problem, as the problem, as far as I'm aware, may be with the projector. Edited January 20, 2014 by Kineas
