Default Proofing Language English UK

Hi guys,

 

Our staff users are getting the English US default spell check language in Office 2010... whilst our pupils are getting the English UK dictionary. Obviously, we want to change this. I think its something in the default profile, but was hoping there would be a registry change or group policy I could apply.

I'm not sure if it's the same for Office 2010, but in Office 2013 the following policy sets the default spell check language.

 

User Configuration » Administrative Templates » Microsoft Office 2013 » Language Preferences » Editing Languages \ [b][color="#FF0000"]Primary Editing Language[/color][/b] » English (U.K.)

 

 

Something else you can do (in addition to the above) is to disable "English (U.S.)" as an editing language. This will completely remove it from the list of available editing languages.

Thanks for your reply. I have already created a GPO for this and the settings show as in your screenshot, the default editing language says English UK default by policy, and there is no mention of US English. However when you type into the document e.g. colour the dictionary reports it is spelt incorrectly, and if i go to the review tab on the ribbon and then proofing language it is still set to English US :/

Do the staff have "English (United States)" set as their date/time format, location and default input language in the Control Panel (Region and Language)?

Not as far as I can see, this was the first thing I have checked. I also considered it may be something to do with the original install, but logging in as pupils works fine they get English UK.
