New user on machines isn't creating profile folder

Hi,

We have some problems with user profiles on PCs connected to our windows 7 domain. In the past, we would image a new machine for a particular site.

Each site has a domain account for the students that sets permissions etc. The GPO is setup to prevent users accessing the local drives "C". So I would create a local user and manually copy the files to the PC.

I've just done a completely new Windows 7 image. Now I've noticed that when I create a new student user on the PC locally, via control panel, the local profile isn't created. No folder in c:\users.

The effect is that the students can logon, because its a domain logon, but they get a message saying that windows couldn't load the profile.

I've tried manually adding the relevant folder into c:\users but this makes no difference.

I'm sure this has been working previously,

Why isn't the local profile being created?

Thanks in advance for your help

Yes, I looked at that. Admin has full control, everyone else has Read/Write.

That's as should be I think.... its not been changed by me from the Windows install. And since I am creating users while logged on as Admin (local and Domain) I think it's right.
