PrimaryTech Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Hi All. I'm getting close to the green light for a new domain controller to replace our ageing Viglen DC and I'm looking for some advice on setting up the new server (1st time setting up a server outside of a uni lab!) I'm migrating from Server 2000 to 2003 and want to ditch Viglen's server software at the same time btw. Any tips on the migration process would be great, also anyone who has ditched Viglen and any issues post Classlink.
FN-GM Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 I would install the new server with Windows 2003, as it to the domain as a domain controller and then transfer the FMSO roles from your old domain controller to your new one. If you do a search of these forms there are some posts on how to do that.
zag Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Yeh just create the new server, make it a DC and global catalogue server and you should be all set. There are lots of white papers for 2000 > 2003 upgrades and it is a normal path that many have done in the past.
