Trying to get Android to open internal hosted Espresso site

I am trying to get an Android device to open our Espresso website which is internally hosted. If I use http://name/name it says the page is not available. If I use the ip address it just hangs for ages before closing the web browser. I have entered the proxy settings and the bypass info.

 

Anyone got this working.

Do you have a local DNS entry for http://name/name? and are your DHCP settings configured to have an internal DNS server as the primary? Firewall settings on the server maybe?

Just tested a local site from my S4, via IP i can hit the site but it then gets grumpy, something incorrect with DNS for me - works from mac/pc/ipad though...

After some more testing appears to be a know android issue. have you tried using the FQDN? using this i was able to hit the site i'm testing with.

No info in DNS on server but this is not an issue for windows clients. Do I need to add it? if so, how?

 

Another thing I have noticed is I am not able to enter a * in the proxy bypass and the espresso address users a ~ symbol which I can not enter.

 

Espresso gave me these to try

Just pulled another Android unit out and that works fine. Must be a dodgy unit.

:S odd. with the androds i've been testing i cannot hit internal servers without a FQDN. Making a papercut setup a bit harder...

Just tried it from an Android phone and all works ok using http://10.???.???.???/~espresso
