HDMI to VGA Adaptor Quality

I currently have a Wii U connected to a 1920x1080 native resolution PC monitor. I am doing this with a HDMI to VGA convertor but the picture quality seems slightly blurred, as if it isn't using 1080 output but up-scaling it instead (system settings say 1080p). Is this normal for adaptors when converting from HDMI signal to VGA or is it a problem with the Wii-U?

we have been using these for our apple TVs at the school I work, no loss of picture using an ipad on a screen with these thats noticable, not sure about the Wii though

Only some games are 1080p native.
