techbarri Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Hi all, its been a while since I built a gaming PC, 2009 in fact. My uncle is wanting a gaming PC to play the latest COD Ghosts and BF4. He requires a monitor too currently has 22" Belinea VGA. I have bought from scan.co.uk, ebuyer an Overclockers in the past so I am happy to use them as suppliers. All suggestions welcome. Budget is a little flexible. Case - Antec 302 Three Hundred Two Ultimate Gaming Case HD - Samsung 256GB SSD 840 PRO SATA 6Gb/s Basic Ideally it would be good to max out the memory if possible.
sonofsanta Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Well a good starting point will probably be this other gaming PC thread http://www.edugeek.net/forums/hardware/128158-gaming-pc-700-budget-what-should-i-get.html And, as linked in t'other thread, there's plenty of good articles that are a decent starting point: TR's fall 2013 system guide - The Tech Report - Page 3 probably the closest to needs, Ars Technica System Guide: November 2013 | Ars Technica is also good, there's dozens of others on the web. Samsung SSD is the only way to go though, although you could save pennies by going for the EVO - plenty good enough TBH. GPU, both of these are good and include BF4 already: Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Dual-X OC 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Card with BattleField 4 PC Game Included [11221-00-20G] @ £255 or Sapphire Radeon R9 290 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with BattleField 4 PC Game Included [21227-00-40G] @ £320. Both should last you into the future for a while.
