Schoolcomms Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 If you're about to send reports, you maybe interested to know about a feature of our messaging launched over summer which allows you to bulk send student reports from SIMS, direct to parents by email... for free. No manual exporting, printing or posting. 4
CAM Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 How does it work? Do you upload an Individual Report then hit send?
Schoolcomms Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 When you have Schoolcomms Messaging, Schoolcomms appears on the Focus tab in SIMS. You click on that and then click on 'Send email'. You can then select any SIMS group (reg, year group etc) and then select the 'attach' option and select 'Assessement Manger Reports' or 'Student Profile Reports' and then you press send. The reports are taken direct from where there held in SIMS. So essentially you can send hundreds of reports in the same time that it takes to send one email.
CAM Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 So we generate the reports via Individual Reports or Profiles, upload them to Linked Documents then select the template name used to generate the reports and it sends the relevant report held in Linked Documents that was generated by the selected template? Sorry if I sound picky, I have been seeking a possible system for sending reports electronically and want to know exactly how it works.
Schoolcomms Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 That's correct. But just to clarify - AM Reports need to be uploaded after generating whereas Profile Reports are automatically uploaded to the Document Management server on generation. Hope that clarifies - good to be picky! Kirsty 2
tombry Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I can vouch for how awesome this is - we were part of the test group for using it and sending out my entire year 9 and year 10 reports last summer was fantastic. @CAM You create your reports just like you would normally, and upload them to linked documents. When you create the schoolcomms message you attach a report, choose it by template name (it will only give you reports that are attached to the students listed), you can then preview it, or just send it - it converts them to a PDF, and emails them out. If students do not have a report attached to them, then you are told it didn't send to those parents, and anyone that doesn't have an email address (I have 8 parents in years 9-10 that don't want emails) you get a list of who to send a paper copy to. what used to take me half a day dealing with now takes me less than an hour - and most of that time is making sure I have the individual report designed correctly. They also added the ability to write back messages sent through schoolcomms to the student record...but I'm sure they'll bring that up themselves in another week... ;p 3
