Mac HD

Hey hoping someone can help me

 

I have an old iMac and it isn't booting to the HD however when I go into disk utility it detects the HD and it says that it is fine, but whenever I try reinstall the OS it doesn't detect the HD there

Have you tried doing a disk repair in the utilities?

Yes I have, also tried partitioning the HD a few times aswell but still no go
