talksr Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Hi, I had attempted to upgrade a couple of our HP systems to Windows 8.1 however the store would not allow it saying that I may need to reinstall to 8.1. I downloaded 8.1 Pro from Microsoft Eopen (System was previously on Windows 8 Pro) I installed what I had downloaded on the system and it went on with no problems. I activated it and made sure it was fully up to date. Everything is working very well but there is an annoying corner of text on the desktop down in the right hand corner above the clock. You usuaully see if it you have a beta version. This is what it says: Windows 8.1 Pro SecureBoot isn't configured correctly Build 9600 How can I get rid of this?
Steve21 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Have you checked your bios settings to see if they are configured right? Or even supports secure boot? (On a side note, they released a patch to "remove" the watermark, but it still will mean secureboot won't work. Update removes the "Windows 8.1 SecureBoot isn't configured correctly" watermark in Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 ) Steve 1

talksr Posted November 6, 2013 Author Posted November 6, 2013 There's a hotfix available from Microsoft to remove the watermark. Windows 8.1 'SecureBoot isn't configured correctly' watermark finally removed via hotfix | WinBeta Thanks very much, not too fussed about secure boot. The systems I am working on are HP Elite 8300, I am quite sure they would have secure boot on them, but not bothered just want the watermark gone! Thanks for your help
