Producing Your Own eBook

Hi,

 

Does anyone on here have experience of self publishing?

 

We have been asked by a student how they would go about producing their own eBook for distribution.

 

I suggested using something like Serif PagePlus and saving as a .pdf but they want something that can be used on Kindles apparently.

 

They also want to sell it on Amazon.

 

Any pointers? Pitfalls?

Quick search around Amazon found these, the last one is software downloads for self publishing

Looks like Amazon recommend producing in HTML then having their software convert to Kindle. The other option seems to be an ePub creator: EPUB - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

 

Edit: PagePlus appears on the list of ePub editors...
