It must be that time of year: BBC News - Apple shows off thinner iPad Air and retina iPad Mini

Interesting is the comment about Apple tablets being overtaken by Android. It was only a matter of time really.

Oh, and as this has ONLY just happened details are still a bit sketchy, but the PC Pro live blog here has more in the way of specs and pricing: Apple iPad Air launch: live blog | PC Pro blog

Google aren't making any hardware-related announcements at the event on the 24th.

We just received a tip from a reliable source telling us that the 10/24 event will not feature any hardware.

Possibly, or possibly not. Lets see what happens.

AP are pretty reliable with their rumours. We shall see though. Being a pessimist I am not going to be disappointed. :)

Back on topic. Now that the iPad mini has a "Retina Display" I can't see many schools choosing to buy the more expensive iPad Air.

I was hoping for a super high-res camera to match the display, but they're sticking with the 5 megapixel camera for now.

@dhicks:

Now you can't have that just yet that will probably be in the next updated model and higher priced to boot, why do people get so sucked into this Apple mangle which just promises you the world but delivers only shiny objects that are not fully complete?

Its like waiting for Lego to come out with the next set of bricks to complete another part of the building or model!

Its very well managed from a company viewpoint who want nothing else than to exploit not only the poor workers in China and the far east but customers who pay through the nose for these shiny new objects of gluttony.

I am not an Apple basher as I see some of the ideas around the technology to be exceptional but like everything else they create and sell it requires everything else to be Apple before it will produce an effective network tool.

Sorry for the rant :(

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is disappointed with the new iPad Air « BGR

Wozniak told the Apps World conference in the United Kingdom on Wednesday that he’s not interested in the new iPad Air because it doesn't have nearly enough storage to meet his content consumption needs. In particular, Wozniak said that he wanted an iPad with enough storage for him to download every episode of The Big Bang Theory, a popular sitcom that Wozniak has guest-starred on in the past.

“When I finally took a look at the devices, the iPads didn't hit my needs,” Wozniak explained. “Yes it’s thinner, but I wanted storage. I don't have broadband at home, and you can’t get great broadband connection in hotels, so I carry all my personal media in the iPad. So I was hoping Apple has a 256GB iPad. I was hoping for more storage so I could put every episode of Big Bang Theory on my iPad. So I emailed my wife and said ‘nope, I don’t want one of those.’”

Isn't it about time we had 256GB iPad's?
